Meet the Big John Trimble's
East Coast Opry Performers
Originally
from Pennylvania, Lynn Stewart has lived
in the Richmond area since the 1970's. She and her late
husband, Jimmy Stewart, performed classic country music
from the 70's through the 90's. With their band, The Country
Showmen, they toured the East Coast and entertained from
Main to South Carolina, particularly at military bases.
Lynn was a regular member of Jamboree USA, in Wheeling,
WVA, for more than 15 years and still returns every year
for their Reunion Jamboree, which is broadcast over WMVA,
AM 1170. Lynn has recorded two albums, Honey and
Black Diamond Coal Country, which features several
songs that and her late husband co-wrote. She also recorded
several original songs as singles, and one, "Gone
Fishin," was a particular favorite of local audiences.
Several of her original band members, Robbie Hajacos to
name one, got their start with the Country Showmen and
have gone to to Nashville to make a carrer in the entertainment
business. Lynn continues to entertain at special functions
around the Richmond area. Her daughter, Lori Kay, also
sings harmony with Lynn when possible. Lynn is a current
member of the Richmond Musicians Union, Local 123 A.F.
of M., and she also plays the bass guitar when needed.
